Martinborough, NZ $195 Finely poised with layers of red fruit and a hint of herbaceousness. Fresh act and fine tannins. Depth and power delivered with finesse.
Yarra Valley Vic $90 Concrete egg. Lighter and more elegant than his usual style. More introspective and doesn’t burst with fruit but this is a good thing. Theres depth and brooding spice.
Henry, Vic $75 Dark, unfiltered and unfixed. Winter mushrooms and turned earth, light weight. Same head winemaker as Hochkirch.
Mornington Peninsula Vic $83 Unfiltered and unfined. Bright red fruit and sour cherry, very high tight acid then afterward a broader, more savoury finish. Not for everyone. High naturally dissolved C02 giving slight tingle.
North Canterbury, NZ $185 Clay limestone. 50% clay, 50% barrel, unfiltered and long ferment. Certified biodynamic. Spectacular power in the glass. Treated in the most delicate way possible, as good as a good bottle of chablis. “Lions Tooth” comes from the “weeds” that grow in the vineyards (dandelion). Steel, lime, fresh and linear, green fruit.
