New producer for us, and all of the wines i tasted were excellent and we will see a bit of them this year. So i’ve copied the importer’s notes below about the producer. The grape is Chasselas, which the Germans call Gutedel, and the Swiss sometimes call Fendant (those who worked at the Mouse will recall the Beudon or the Mythopia ones we listed). Another of the ‘neutral’ flavoured grapes like Silvaner, Aligoté and to a lesser extent Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay. So shit when made badly, but pure terroir when made properly. Hay, stones, apples and lemons, basically like Chablis with a softer texture. We’ll be pouring this next week so you’ll all get to try it.
